Las Vegas Review-Journal: Henderson’s ‘Start Tank’ accepting applications through Aug. 5

The City of Henderson is working with Moonshot and the College of Southern Nevada to host ‘Start Tank’ a local spin-off of the ABC television show “Shark Tank.” Moonshot at NACET helps entrepreneurs bring their business ideas to market.

“The idea is to ignite the local entrepreneur community, and get them some of the mentorship and some of the training they may need,” said Ken Chapa, Henderson’s acting director of economic development and tourism.

Last year’s winner, Megan Collins and her business partner Tom Mueller, founded Solar LED Safety Products, a business that aims to improve safety for construction workers. Collins and Mueller were able to launch their product several months after they won Start Tank.

Local entrepreneurs are encouraged to submit their business ideas by August 5.
