City of Henderson Receives Prestigious Presidential Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award
October 31, 2024
The City of Henderson proudly announces it has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award— the nation’s only presidential award for performance excellence.
"We started working toward this goal more than 14 years ago, implementing major continuous improvement programs and enhancing how we collect and use data in our organization to drive meaningful results for our community,” said Henderson Mayor Michelle Romero. “This amazing achievement spans multiple City leaders, touches every City department and reflects our commitment to the citizens and businesses of Henderson. We all share in this incredible affirmation of our efforts!"
The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award evaluates and identifies national role models of excellence among U.S. businesses and organizations for their performance against criteria that focus on resilience and long-term success, including assessing processes, key performing indicators, and more.
Normally presented to private sector businesses, the City of Henderson joins four other cities in the nation to be recognized for this award. The evaluation marked the following notable highlights:
- Maintain resident satisfaction with community services above the 95th percentile from 2010 through 2023.
- Received a "Leading the Way" recognition in 2021 and 2023 for achieving the nation's top customer satisfaction score with quality of life (mid-to-large cities).
- Averaging near 100% satisfaction with fire services overall performance in five community surveys (2010, 2014, 2018, 2021, and 2023).
- Scoring between 85% and 95% from 2010 to 2023 on community satisfaction with police services.
- Offering the lowest property tax rate in the region, from around 71 cents to 77 cents of $100 of property value from fiscal year 2019 to 2023.
- Achieving a perfect Municipal Equality Index score for inclusivity from 2021-2023.
“As a City, our vision is to be America's premier community, and this prestigious award validates that we are using national best practices to ensure our community is receiving the finest services from its local government,” said Henderson City Manager and CEO Richard Derrick.
