Achievement marks another milestone in Henderson’s Path to Premier

HENDERSON, Nev. (May 4, 2022) – The City of Henderson achieved the prestigious 2021 Pinnacle Award for Excellence from the Southwest Alliance for Excellence (SWAE), a nonprofit organization that empowers private and public entities to pursue performance excellence.

The Pinnacle Award for Excellence is presented to organizations with mature and fully deployed quality systems within their operations that demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement which sustained a significant record of performance.

“We are honored to receive SWAE’s highest recognition for performance excellence, a testament to the significant progress the City of Henderson has made on our path to premier,” said Henderson Mayor Debra March. “I commend our outstanding city employees who have embraced a culture of continuous improvement and who strive every day to deliver the highest-performing public service to the community.”

Participation in the SWAE Performance Excellence Program assesses organizations for excellence in quality performance and outcomes. The program provides valuable feedback regarding where an organization is positioned on the quality continuum and acts as a catalyst to earning the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

The City of Henderson was recognized by SWAE in several areas, including its systematic and fact-based strategic planning process, commitment to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction with the quality of life, crime prevention and more.

“Receiving the 2021 Pinnacle Award for Excellence strengthens our opportunity to obtain the nation’s only Presidential award for performance and excellence, the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award,” said Henderson City Manager Richard Derrick. “The City of Henderson aspires to be America’s premier community and is committed to providing our residents and businesses with quality services that meet a national standard for excellence.”

Established in 1990, SWAE is a nonprofit organization and member of The Baldridge Alliance for Performance Excellence that helps advance improvement and excellence in organizations, communities and individuals throughout Arizona, Nevada and Utah by using the national Baldrige criteria.
